Vic's Drum Shop - Chicago, IL

Recently I had the opportunity to participate in the 12th annual Drum Fantasy Camp held at Vic's Drum Shop in Chicago and wow what a place!

Positioned as the largest drum-exclusive inventory in the nation, Vic's was founded in 2011 by drummer Victor Salazar and has hosted many drum camps and workshops with such legends as Dave Weckl, Billy Cobham, Jojo Mayer, Todd Sucherman and Steve Smith.

The new manager of the store is Kevin Jensen, former operations manager.

"We are completely committed to continuing on the path we were always on which is serving drummers with an emphasis on quality," Jensen told Music Inc. "Our staff is as equally committed as they have ever been."

At 10,000 square feet of drums and associated accessories, Vic's is an amazing treasure trove of everything you could ever want to see, try, play and experiment with in the world of drums and percussion.

The staff is well-educated on brands and give full access to everything in the store and I had the opportunity to play sets from DW, Mapex and Ludwig and cymbals from Zildjian, Meinl, Paiste and Sabian.

An amazing snare wall and dedicated rooms for cymbals and percussion round out the store.

When in the area, stop into Vic's - you will be glad you did.
