2019 Delaware Drum Show

Held annually, the 2019 Delaware Drum Show featured over 25 vendors, a meet and great with Bernard Purdie and two fantastic clinics with Mike Dawson and Daniel Glass.

The event drew a packed house and busy show floor with standing room only in the clinics.

Mike Dawson discussed and played through his ideas and concepts on practice and idea generation and innovation via patterns and loops.

Mike is Managing Editor at Modern Drummer magazine and an accomplished player, performer and clinician in his own right who shared a lot of innovative ideas and also took the time to discuss and review how he has incorporated technology into his daily practice routine. Mike kept the crowd engaged through audience participation and his concepts and ideas.

Daniel Glass did a deep dive presentation on the background on Gene Krupa's signature drum solo on Sing, Sing, Sing. Daniel is a wonderful presenter and drum historian and was the perfect choice for this unique performance.

Daniel played the entire piece at the end using a backing track and a set of period Slingerland Radio King drums on loan for the event.

A spectacular presentation and wonderful performance. Kudos.

Of course the day would not be complete without a meet and greet and discussion with the legendary Bernard "Pretty" Purdie.

Bernard spent all day at the show and shared his time gracefully, even taking time to sit down at a Bucks County Drum set and teach the Purdie shuffle to an 11-year old drummer attending the show.

Great see to see Bernard again as I always enjoy his kindness and stories.
