Most underrated Snare of all time?

The Ludwig Acrolite, this version from 1982.

This is the drum everyone wants and needs in their collection and I purchased this with the original hard case...

Looks amazing and plays like a dream with the restoration and customization's I personally added to it - the drum SOUNDS AMAZING!! This seamless beaded Aluminum shell with Bowtie Lugs sings....

The LM-400 powder-coated Acrolite was originally sold and positioned similar to a Supraphonic without the high cost – this drum plays and records extremely well. (think John Bonham, Steve Gadd, etc…). The Acro and Supra are of course two of the most recorded snare drums in history and this amazing drum comes with the original P-85 strainer and triple-flanged hoops.

As a ‘go-to’ recording drum, the Acrolite tends to sound a little bit drier than the Supraphonic, lacking just a bit of its complex, trademark resonance, but absolutely in the same family. They can even border on identical from the original Supra sound when you are looking for a more muffled or controlled snare drum sound.

Customization's in this restoration include a Remo coated Emperor head, Ludwig C1114 clear X-thin bottom snare head, Ludwig snares tied with Grosgrain ribbon and new Hendrix Sleeved Washers,

This is not your typical Acrolite - the refurbish process took it from 'meh' to 'MARVELOUS!'.

I am into restoring snares for the player not the collector, so everything I do enhances the sound and playing experience but may not always enhance the value ($$$)---- and I am OK with that. Drums are meant to be played, not to be purchased and sit on a shelf and 'flipped' for a higher price some day.

I am a huge fan of Acros for live gigs and recording sessions and people regularly ask me how I get “that sound”.

One of the most underrated snare drums of all time? -- YES!
